The title gives it all away. October has been a terrible month to my loved ones and to me. I've finally mustered up the guts to post what's going on--knowing I'll be in tears again before this journal is over.

My baby, Flossy Mae (aka Fosser, Fossiekins), passed away Monday morning. She was unexpectedly injured last Sunday. I came home from paying the water bill, and she was trying to drag herself onto the back porch. (She was originally a stray, so it was hard to convince her to come inside.) Jason and I helped her into the house--noticing that her tail and back leg were not moving. She meowed painfully, and we got our things together and went straight over to the Veterinary Emergency Clinic. They took some x-rays, coming to the conclusion that she had sustained a fall of some sort and that her spine was injured. They gave her some pain medicine and sent us home--and made us an appointment with the local vet clinic for the morning. By morning, Flossy was paralyzed in both legs and her tail. The veterinarian didn't yield any better news for me in terms of her recovery. I had to make a decision that I've never had to make--and it has never hurt so bad to do anything. I stayed with her until the end, kissing her little forehead. I can't believe such a beautiful soul is gone from this world. Please do take a glimpse at her spirit through these photos.
